This year, a new elite race has been added to the weekend. The first finishers in the traditional Nepean, (1km swim, 30km cycle and 10km run) being the fastest male and female competitors in the race, will qualify to race a second time over a grand prix distance of 300m swim, 8km cycle, 2km run (20% of Olympic distance) in front of the packed grandstand. This second race will be held approximately 90 minutes after the elite competitors finish the Nepean. Thirty bike places will be placed in front of the grandstand, with the swim directly in front of the crowd, the cycle featuring a 4 x 2km out and back course and the run being a 4 x 500metre all in front of the main grandstand. As well as providing a great opportunity for our leading competitors to race a short grand prix race in front of a large crowd, the race will also entertain the crowd leading up to the Nepean presentation.
